Chapter 2

'Why did we have to leave the house so early?' I huffed. We arrived at school around 7:30. The school didn't allow students inside till 7:45, but classes started at 8 . And the air temperature here in Detroit isn't helping anything either.

So here I was sitting on the curb in front of the middle school freezing my a** off.

I reached into my backpack to get my cell phone...'Crap.' Well, I guess it wasn't all that bad, I mean I still got my iPod touch. Pulling that out instead, I started playing Bejeweled Blitz. What? It's a pretty good game to pass the time. After ten minutes of gaming, I finally got the honor of getting first place on the score board.

  RING!

That of course was the school's bell telling the students to get their butt inside. Being the only one here at the moment, I got the privilege of going in first.

~Time skip Of Awesomeness!~

1. Algebra
2. Communications
3. Communications
4. Social Studies
5. homeroom/lunch/recess
6. Win (basically a whole class period were the only thing you could do was read)
7. Special (today art, tomorrow health, next day Tech. Ed., then repeat)
8. Science
9. Special (today gym, tomorrow art, next day health, then repeat)

That what my schedule looked like. Each class was forty minutes not counting homeroom, that was longer. Right now it was homeroom. Though I hated the first three classes, social studies totally made up for it. The teacher was awesome, and that's saying something since that came from me.

During homeroom, you could only do two things, homework and reading a book. And the sad thing is that, is that me algebra teacher already gave us homework saying “Better now than never”... that little saying didn't even make sense. Not that I'm against reading books, it's that reading a book every single day doesn't exactly sound pleasing to me.

  RING!

'YES! LUNCHTINE!' Like the other students, I ran to the lunch line, some in the line while the others had their packed lunch. Today's lunch; grilled cheese sandwich or yogurt and soft pretzel... grilled cheese it is! People usually don't like the school lunches, but I think that it's fine. So after grabbing a milk jug, apple juice, and grilled cheese, I went to sit at a table that was close to the window. Not too soon after, two of my buddies came and sat next to me. They were Tabitha and Toni. The most awesome gals ever.

“Hey Lucy! What's up?” Tabitha asked. She had neck length brown hair and wore a white t-shirt, gray leggings, and a red zipper sweatshirt with her dad's company logo on the back and the zipper unzipped.

Smirking, I replied with, “The sky of course.”

  She rolled her eyes.

  “You're an Idiot.”

“ It's not nice to lie Tabby. Shame on you!”

“Guys! Shut up and look outside!” Toni suddenly yelled, her red pigtails flew as she jumped out of her seat and ran to the window. Tabitha and I trailed behind. Soon the windows were filled with students trying to find out what was going on.

Off into the distance I saw something moving in the sky. Shoving my face further into the glass, I could see three jets the colors of blue, orange, and purple. The first thought that popped in my head was, 'Is this awesome or what?'

“What a minute. Tabby, are those jets getting closer to us?” I heard Toni question.

  I widened my eyes.

  “ HOLY CRAP!”

Suddenly there was lots dust in the air making it hard for anybody to see anything. I heard screams and shuffling as people tried to run away. As the dust cleared, I saw students cowering and some under the rubble. But what was the most noticeable, was the huge gaping hole in the wall. I hurried forward to help those under the debris. Grabbing one buried person's hand, I pulled backward. I saw a familiar red cloth and face palmed.

“Tabitha. You were suppost to run away from the window, not towards it.” She got up and I helped her swipe away the dust.

“I tried to run but being so close to the window was causing problems. Problems such as getting through a tight crowd.”

“LUCY! TABBY!” A voice shrilled. Both Tabby and I found ourselves unable to breathe in Toni’s hug of death.

“Are you two okay? What the holy heck just happened?”

I  looked at Tabby. Then turned back to look at her.

“I don't know Tony, I don't know.”

Heh, I forgot to mention what Lucy's facial appearance looks like. Well I'll just make somthin' that will basically tell you all that Jazz (no pun intended).
